Cardio thoracic department is headed by Dr.R.Subbarao. M.S., F.A.C.C., Cardiothoracic & Vascular surgeon. Open-heart surgeries and Bye pass surgeries are being conducted on regular basis. An exclusive four bedded post operative cardiac intensive care unit equipped with all sophisticated medical equipments like ventilators, Monitors, Infusion and Syringe Pumps, Multi Channel Monitors and trained senior staff nurses is also located in the 5th floor to closely monitor the cardiac patients after surgery. In case of necessity there are two intra Aortic Balloon Pumps for high-risk patients.

Cardiac Surgical procedures carried out routinely include Coronary Artery Bypass Graft using Internal Mammatary Artery, on Heart Lung Machine [where indicated], Cardiac Valve replacement [single and multiple]. The unit is geared up for carrying out emergency procedures at all times on patients who are suffering from unstable angina, left Ventricular failure due to Ischaemic Ventricular Septal Defect or Mitral Regulation. Children with Atrial or Ventricular Septal Defects and other congenital defects are also surgically treated. The unit also performs “OFF PUMP CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS” [OPCAB] surgeries regularly.


The unit also caters to Thoracic Surgical procedures like Lung resections for cancer or infections. Video assisted Thoracic procedures are performed where indicated.


Well-equipped postoperative CCU and Laboratory support the unit.
